eternity

in august, doreen and i were driving from toronto to ottawa for our exec retreat. it was a gorgeous day and we were pushing that civic about as fast as she should go. (but clearly, glendon's van could go much, much faster. it was fueled by disney songs.) somehow we got to thinking about what we thought were the most awful things, ever. we decided that two things were definatly on that list: utter lonliness, and guilt.
hell is like that - you are completly alone, because God is not with you. he does not identify with you, and you are not His son. there, guilt is not only a feeling, but an eternal reality. you will Be guilty.

this one's for you.

pastor Junior encouraged us to keep a record of what God is showing us. dren and i were talking about how, while some people have decided to refrain from online journaling for lent, in our cases, we should probably decide TO write. doing so as an exercise in both dicipline and practicing to sort out our thoughts so as to be able to communicate them - and be understood. which is something i find amazingly difficult.
